Durness

This is Smoo Bay, near Durness in the north west corner of Scotland.

John Lennon spent childhood holidays at a croft in Durness. He revisited the area in 1969 with Yoko Ono and their children.

This is so pretty. A nice place for John and family to have a getaway.

The waters of Smoo Bay look like marble. The sunlight crinkles over it...so clean and clear and bright.

I am always struck by the solitude conveyed by your pictures, Margaret. I can't believe that you happen upon these pictures by mere chance, but by pensive thought...waiting for the right moment when all is still, and your picture will speak a thousand words. A thousand peaceful words.

It's not hard to imagine that a palce like this could inspire great expressions from an artist. I can see why John Lennon would have loved it here.

Beautiful pictures.
